The globalization process has a huge impact on the changes taking place in the media. New media forms emerge – in which the image and sound play a dominant role.
On May 11, 2021, one of the partners of the RIPEC project – The College of Social and Media Culture, organized a conference entitled “#visualization. Word-Image-Sound“. The conference was international and interdisciplinary. We invited numerous speakers to participate, including foreign guests. Among the speakers were experts from the Pontifical and Royal University of Saint Thomas in Manila (Philippines), St. Xavier’s College, Kolkata (India), Scuola Superiore Carolina Albasio (Italy), Universidad Panamericana (Mexico), College of Social and Media Culture in Torun, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poznan, the Catholic University of Lublin, the Cardinal Stefan Wyszynski University in Warsaw and the University of Rzeszow.
The event was aimed at disseminating knowledge about data visualization, information and arguments for the purposes of various scientific disciplines. Especially in the era of a pandemic, we notice the development of new audiovisual media that affect the relationship between text, image and sound.
During the conference, issues related to visualization in the media, political science, information technology, society, advertising and marketing were discussed.
During the conference, visualizations were also presented as part of Erasmus + mobility programs, based on the example of the international RIPEC project. The presentation in this regard was prepared by prof. Isabella Querci and Lisa Lonetti, MA (representing Scuola Superiore Carolina Albasio).
– Well-defined visual identification is important not only for members of society but also for projects, especially those financed by the European Union. Good visual identification should be seen as a priority in any communication and dissemination strategy for projects – said prof. Isabella Querci.
During this difficult time of the pandemic, a unique online event was organized. It would not be possible if it were not for the cooperation between the Scientific Circle of Media Studies, the Office for International and Intercollegiate Cooperation at the College of Social and Media Culture, the Regional Center for International Debate in Torun and the Digital Poland Association.
During the entire conference, we listened to 20 papers, and the broadcast of this event was watched by over 1000 people.
Despite these difficult times related to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are already thinking about further joint research projects. We would like to thank everyone who joined the organization of this event and invite you to further cooperation.

We send cordial greetings from Poland 🙂
The conference seems to be really fine. Google translator allows me to understand from the “Press team report” (https://wsksim.edu.pl/vizualization-miedzynarodowa-konferencja-naukowa-online/#1620713666520-69701062 -854e). Only I can suggest two improvements:
a) The audio is mostly in Polish, and I can’t follow it. I don’t know this language. Maybe it can be possible to use English too.
b) Since we are talking about “Word-Image and Sound” digitization, it would be a good idea to put the subtitles on the video (even if they are automatically generated from YouTube) to ask to translate it into another language.
The translation may not be exact, but more people will better understand the meaning.
Best Regards
I’m student of political science from Poland and I had opportunity to take part in the conference, The topic was really interesting and expanding outlook. Organisation of event went without any problems. Great job!
